Dearest Readers,
This is the final weekend update for the 2019 Heist.
Before the week started, candidates were told that if they were not on the leaderboard, they would not move on in the game. Here are all of the individuals who were culled this week.
Abinaya Anbuchelvan, Aditi Raja, Arushi Gautam, Chloe Lee, David Daniel, Diya Jain, Doris Wei, Justin Choi, Kelly Lin, Manoj Soundararajan, Namrata Vajrala, Nikita Rangwala, Sean Wu, Shriya Reddy, Shruti Ranade, Srinidhi Seshadri, Tanvee Joshi, Thomas Lin, William Yi, Ysabel Li, Zayhaan Batlivala
These candidates made it to the second to last week but sadly, they didn't have enough left in the tank to make the final push to the finals. Especially Zayhaan Batlivala, who was going to end the game with -2 Nix but a final dispute vaulted him to 148 Nix, where he remained until he was culled. A moment of silence for these fallen candidates.
Friday started off with a special event known as The Runner (copyright pending). The first person who took a picture of Don Shapiro would receive the title of “The Runner”. This title can be passed on if a picture was taken within five feet of the titleholder. The Runner got a free pass into the finale. Safe zones applied but anywhere else was fair game even if they were doing the immunity. Andy Wang took a picture of Ben Shapiro as he was T-Posing in the middle of the football field at brunch and speed walked to the nearest open classroom, hiding there until the end of brunch. At the end of 5th period is when it got interesting. Andy Wang coincidentally got a nosebleed at 12:55pm and, like the people who ditch Supertutorial, ran to the parking lot where his friend Ashley was waiting in the getaway car. He was home by 1:07pm and remained there for the rest of the day. Since Andy was already on the leaderboard and already had a bye, he got a second one. Andy will not see any Finale action until Wednesday.
Tomorrow is Day 1 of the Finale: The Scavenger Hunt. Contestants will start in the middle of the basketball courts and the Dons will issue the challenge. Contestants must then find that item as quickly as possible and line up in front of the Dons in order of getting there. The Dons will then check off the item. For each item, the candidate in first place receives 5 points, second place receives 4, and so on until fifth place receives one point. The sixth and seventh candidates to procure the item will receive nothing. We hope to see you all there cheering on your favorite contestant.
Happy Heisting,
The Scribe
