Weekend Update

Dearest Readers,

Welcome back to the Daily Cannon, I am your host The Scribe and we're going to be going through the eventful long weekend that's coming to an end.

Friday was an immunity day so you know what that means: Story Time!

The first story is a lesson to you all that cheating the system does not work all the time. It only works most of the time and if you aren't dumb about it. Sadly, it didn't work out too well for Mohana Venkatapuram. For those of you who don't know, the immunity for Friday was to dress up in the same colors as someone else and stay attached to them in some way or the other. Mohana decided that it would be a good idea to partner up with people who aren't in the game. There's a list of all the players in the game that's public, which means EVERYONE will know who's not in the game. Why did you think this was a good idea? Watergate was a better idea than that. Brexit is a better idea than this. Mohana lost 750 Nix through the immunity and was culled.

The second story involves our wonderful gameday. We thought that instead of the usual backstabbing-type game, we would so something fun but you guys still found a way to snake. Way to go guys. The game day was simple enough. Everyone needed a partner. One person would be doing the bird box challenge while the other guided them. The person who was blindfolded would have to throw balls at other teams in order to eliminate them. The last pair standing one. It was basically just a giant game of dodgeball except you can't see who or where you're throwing. Groups began to band together including Andy/Ian and Megan/Kelly. They worked to keep each other alive and four groups were left at the end including the aforementioned pairs. They began to discuss what order they would get killed in order of who had the least points to most. All 8 of them were standing in a circle when, like Travis Scott before her, Megan decided to go Sicko Mode and began to yeet the balls that she had in her hand. She gets two of the other groups but the dynamic duo that is Andy and Ian back out of the front lines just in time. Like Aaron Rodgers in the fourth quarter, Ian throws up a prayer and lobs the ball from ten feet away and nails Megan and Kelly to win the game. This should go down as one of the greatest moments in sports history.

There were a plethora of daily challenges this weekend as there are before every culling so that we can give the people who are under the cutoff some hope of staying in the game. One of the challenges was to write an essay answering the prompt of "Why Lynbrook?" Some of them honestly made me question my life choices for the past four years. Thanks for the existential crisis guys. A couple of the best submissions are below.

"I love Lynbrook. Lynbrook is life. Where else can you find a school with 40 valedictorians idk. Or a place where ppl sprint out of their classrooms to voluntarily take a math test. Or where the results of the homecoming game are known beforehand. Or where ppl are coding in the bleachers of said football game. Or where ppl are praised for having 2 hours of sleep. Or where you don’t have a quad. Or where we have fun in homeroom every Friday. Or where ppl wake up at 6am to practice for homecoming. Or where ap cs has a waitlist of like 100 kids. Or where ppl willingly play a game that requires them to dress up as a lamp. Only at Lynbrook." -Aishwarya Atmakuri

"We have insanely talented students. Our teachers are great. The campus is also constantly improving. Our athletics could be better but progression is evident. Passion, spirit, positive attitude, and amazing friendships are built here. We have one of the best DECA programs in the state and our test scores are top notch. We are the best school in the district. I am proud to call myself a Monta Vista Matador. Lynbrook takes a close second " -Manoj Soundararajan

"The land of broken dreams, doctor-lawyer-engineers, and sad, lonely literature teachers. Amidst all this chaos, there is a redeeming point. For among the dreams crushed, there is naviete uncovered. Among the sad souls without freedom, there is an iron will forged. We learn here to live on metaphorical scraps, to get by without doing our homework, to be strong when no weakness is allowed. Amidst the snakery, we learn judgement to act in the even more unkempt world. Beyond all the simple positives that we gain or the petty losses we suffer, and beyond my own personal grudges, Lynbrook is a gauntlet of power in the future for those who dare challenge it. " -Jeff Lui

Another wonderful daily challenge was one where candidates had to send in a submission of themselves doing an impression of a celebrity or famous character. I have to say most of these were garbage. I had such a hard time putting this video together because I didn't know who you guys were trying to imitate.
